Interbike 2017 wrapped up last Friday in Las Vegas, and while it was Legaci Bike’s first visit to Interbike, it was Interbike’s last appearance in Vegas. Next year, the show hits the road for Reno-Tahoe!

We landed in Vegas last Tuesday hoping to be in time to help with some set-up with our friends at, but with delays in Chicago, we got in later than expected. We stopped at the convention center for a brief visit to the Weebike exhibit to say hello and let them know we had arrived. Between the noisy airports, our early flight out of Rochester, lack of any ‘real’ food, and the three hour time change, we were ready to set our bags down in our hotel room and drink in our first taste of Las Vegas.

After the requisite visit to the hotel buffet, we ended the day early with the anticipation of a busy day on Wednesday, and Wednesday certainly did not disappoint. By all accounts, Interbike filled a smaller footprint on the convention center floor than it has in previous years. Even so, we stood at the entrance with wide eyes, looking at the Interbike app on the phone and trying to determine where to begin.

Although we are primarily focused on balance bikes, Todd’s love for cycling encompasses so many aspects of the sport that we spent a good portion of the day looking at anything and everything that might be of some benefit to him as a coach and as a racer. It was interesting to see new things and talk with people that were excited to share their products. By mid-morning I had also found a saddle by Ergon Bike that I am convinced is going to be the answer to all my cycling problems. It was fun and exciting to spend that time engaged with people that share a passion and by the time we left the convention floor to get a light lunch, we had seen so much with still so much more to see!

We finished off our first day of Interbike with balance bikes. With so much to see and so many options, it is fun to compare the different styles and the little nuances each manufacturer builds into their products. We enjoyed the time investing in the process of providing the absolute best balance bikes!

After dinner with the owners of Prevelo, a new line of balance bikes that will be available soon here at Legaci Bikes, we took time to get outside and walk the Las Vegas strip. It was a late night, and Thursday morning brought us another opportunity to investigate more opportunities. In addition to ensuring we had met with absolutely everyone we had hoped to speak with, we spent the first half of our day looking at e-bikes and learning how that market has expanded.

With two days at Interbike behind us, we spent Thursday afternoon at the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay and enjoyed dinner with a friend at Blue Ribbon at the Cosmopolitan before wrapping up our Vegas trip with an adventure to the Hoover Dam on Friday. Saturday was our travel day, and after our time at Interbike, we were excited to get back home and get back to work with our plans for Legaci Bikes.

With a vision toward our future – and the kids that are the future of cycling- we look forward to continuing to provide the best in balance bikes. In addition to that, we are excited to add a few new options to the mix in the coming days and weeks.
